Gatorland Orlando: Gator Night Shine at Gatorland Orlando

Gator Night Shine is a guided night tour at Gatorland, the alligator and wildlife park on South Orange Blossom Trail in Orlando. The 90-minute experience takes small groups along winding wooden walkways through Gatorland's Alligator Breeding Marsh after dark, when the resident population is most active. Gatorland has operated as a wildlife attraction since 1949 and holds one of the largest collections of alligators and crocodilians in the United States, making the marsh a genuinely dense habitat rather than a staged encounter.

Each guest is issued a flashlight and insect repellent before setting out with a live guide. Sweeping the beam across the water reveals hundreds of red eyeshine reflections from alligators resting at the surface, a phenomenon caused by the tapetum lucidum behind the retina. The guide covers breeding behaviour, nocturnal habits, and the ecology of Florida's wetlands throughout the walk. Among the Orlando attractions that put visitors in direct proximity to wildlife, few offer this level of unscripted, after-dark access. Tickets cover the guided marsh tour, flashlight, and insect repellent. Gatorland day admission is not included and must be purchased separately. The tour is wheelchair accessible and runs approximately one hour and 30 minutes.
