Start your day with a relaxing one-hour cruise on picturesque Lake Lucerne to Vitznau. Change onto Europe’s first-ever mountain railway dating from 1871 and set out on the journey to the top, Rigi Kulm. From 1,797 meters above sea level, let your gaze wander over the Swiss midlands with 13 lakes and a sea of 620 Alpine peaks. Enjoy time to explore one of the many hiking trails, take a moment of silence at the Rigi Kulm mountain chapel, or to have a bite to eat at one of the restaurants. Continue to the car-free village of Rigi Kaltbad by cogwheel train and take a stroll across the village square, where you will spot the Mineralbad & Spa designed by the renowned Swiss architect Mario Botta. Follow an easy hiking trail with a slight incline to the Känzeli viewing platform (optional). Descend by aerial cable car and enjoy an impressive vista of pristine Lake Lucerne. Capture the breathtaking view from the Lucerne Riviera with your camera before boarding the boat back to Lucerne.
Make your way to Pier no. 1 on Lake Lucerne ahead of the departure time. The full day out runs to around 7 hours, so wear comfortable layers and footwear suitable for walking on mountain paths. Bring water and any snacks you need, as meals and drinks are not included in the price.
Photography is welcome throughout the day. Keep your group together at each interchange point so the guide can manage connections smoothly. Rigi Kaltbad is a car-free village, so no road traffic to navigate there. Dress for changeable mountain weather, as conditions at nearly 1,800 metres can differ considerably from the lakeside.
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the experience.
