Delight in Lisbon’s surreal landscapes on a 12-minute ride in the city’s one and only Telecabine Cable Car - the biggest attraction of the EXPO’98!
The Telecabine Cable Car is a landmark aerial gondola ride in Lisbon, running along the Parque das Nações waterfront on the north bank of the Tagus estuary. Originally built as a centrepiece attraction for the 1998 Lisbon World Exposition, it remains the city's only cable car and covers a route of roughly 1.25 kilometres between the Passeio das Tagides North Station and the Oceanarium end of the park. The full crossing takes approximately 12 minutes and travels at a height that places the Tagus, the Vasco da Gama Bridge, and the low-rise grid of Parque das Nações directly in view. For more on things to do in Lisbon Sintra, the wider area offers several complementary attractions within walking distance.
Gondolas depart at regular intervals throughout the day, and passengers can ride in either direction, making it straightforward to combine with a walk along the riverside promenade. The route passes over the formal gardens and esplanade that were laid out for EXPO '98, giving a clear aerial perspective of the urban planning from that period. Tickets are available for a single one-way crossing or a return journey, and children under a set age threshold travel at a reduced rate. The Passeio das Tagides - North Station is the main boarding point, accessible by metro via the Oriente station interchange a short walk away.
These tickets cannot be cancelled or rescheduled.
