Acropolis of Athens

Über den Veranstaltungsort

Über diesen Veranstaltungsort

Rising above the city on a flat-topped limestone rock, the Acropolis of Athens is the most recognised monument of the ancient world and the defining landmark of the Greek capital. At its summit stands the Parthenon, the fifth-century BC temple dedicated to the goddess Athena, designed by the architects Ictinus and Callicrates under the direction of the sculptor Pheidias. Alongside it stand the Erechtheion with its famous Caryatid porch, the Temple of Athena Nike, and the monumental Propylaea gateway, together forming one of the most complete surviving ensembles of classical Greek architecture.

Visitors today can explore the sacred rock through a range of guided experiences, including private tours, family mythology walks tailored for younger visitors, combined visits with the Acropolis Museum and the Ancient Agora, a dedicated tour conducted in German, and options with skip-the-line entry. Guided tours departing from Piraeus are also available, making the site accessible to those arriving by sea.
