Lyric Hammersmith Theatre

The Lyric Hammersmith Theatre has been a cornerstone of west London's cultural life for well over a century, occupying its current home on King Street in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. The theatre is particularly noted for its ornate Victorian auditorium, which was saved and reinstalled within a modern building during a major reconstruction completed in 2015, preserving one of the finest surviving nineteenth-century theatre interiors in the country. Under successive artistic directors, the Lyric has built a reputation for bold new writing, reimagined classics, and work that speaks directly to the local community alongside audiences from across the capital.

The current programme reflects that range. August Wilson's Fences brings one of American drama's most celebrated family portraits to the Lyric stage, while Lucy Kirkwood's The Children offers a taut and morally searching piece of contemporary British theatre. Younger audiences are served by a stage adaptation of Roald Dahl's The Enormous Crocodile, and Relics adds further variety to a season that demonstrates the theatre's continuing ambition.
