Mount Rigi: Day Tour from Zurich is a guided day trip to Mount Rigi, known as the Queen of the Mountains, departing from Limmatstrasse 2 in Zurich. The tour runs for approximately 10 hours and combines a coach ride along the shores of Lake Lucerne with an aerial cable car ascent from Weggis to Rigi Kaltbad, a ride on Europe's first mountain railway to the summit at Rigi-Kulm (1,797 m), and a return descent by cogwheel train to Vitznau. An English-speaking guide accompanies the group from Zurich to Weggis and again from Lucerne back to Zurich.
From the summit, the panorama extends across the Swiss Midlands, its lakes, and the snow-capped Alpine range. After time at the top, the descent to Vitznau by cogwheel train is followed by a one-hour boat ride on the Lake of the Four Cantons to the Lucerne pier, with time to walk through the medieval streets of the Old Town. Tickets cover return coach transport from Zurich, the cable car and mountain railway ascent, the cogwheel train descent, and the lake boat ride. Food, drinks, and optional activities are not included.
