Acerca de este lugar

Beneath the streets of central Milan, the Crypt of Santo Sepulcro occupies the underground chamber of one of the city's oldest sacred sites. The church of Santo Sepolcro, which stands above, was consecrated in 1030 and built on the remains of a Roman structure, making the crypt a layered record of Milan's ancient and medieval past. The site takes its name from the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, reflecting the devotional ambitions of its founders during the era of the Crusades.

The crypt itself preserves Romanesque architectural elements that have survived centuries of rebuilding and urban change above ground. It sits in the Piazza Santo Sepolcro, just steps from the Biblioteca Ambrosiana, placing it within one of the most historically concentrated corners of the city. Entry tickets grant access to this subterranean space, where visitors can examine the original stonework and learn about the site's long religious and civic significance to Milan.
