Herculaneum: Entry Ticket at Herculaneum

The Herculaneum Entry Ticket gives admission to the Herculaneum archaeological park near Naples, the Roman town buried alongside Pompeii by the eruption of Vesuvius in AD 79. Smaller and more compact than its neighbour, Herculaneum is known for the remarkable preservation of its buildings, with upper floors, wooden fittings and painted interiors that rarely survive elsewhere.

Entry covers the excavated streets, houses and bath complexes, which can be walked comfortably in around two hours. The site sits below the modern town of Ercolano, a short train ride from central Naples. Bring water and sun cover in summer, and allow time to look into the well-kept houses along the side streets, where the detail of daily Roman life is easiest to read.
