A 45-minute guided visit to Burmester Wine Cellars in Porto, founded in 1750, with tastings of port wines including LBV, Vintage, and Colheita options.
The Burmester Wine Cellars tasting is an attraction in Porto centred on one of the Douro Valley's oldest port wine houses, founded in 1750 by Henry Burmester and John Nash. The 45-minute guided visit takes place in the cellars at Largo Dom Luís I, overlooking the Douro River, and covers the history of the house alongside the characteristics that distinguish Burmester's port wines and Douro DOC wines from the wider region. The visit is conducted in your preferred language, making it accessible to international visitors exploring things to do in Porto.
During the visit, guests move through the cellar caves and learn how ageing conditions, grape varieties, and blending decisions shape each wine style. The standard visit includes a tasting of two wines. Upgrading to the premium package adds a third wine and a chocolate pairing, while the gourmet option covers three wines of superior quality, specifically LBV, Vintage, and Colheita ports, accompanied by chocolates and cheese. Tickets are available for the standard, premium, or gourmet visit, with cancellation permitted before the selected timeslot. Note that the cellars do not have wheelchair access.
Free cancellation up to 48 hours before the start time.
