Arrival and timing

Arrive at the meeting point in good time before your tour begins. The walking tour runs for one hour and thirty minutes, so wear comfortable, sturdy footwear suited to uneven archaeological terrain. The site is exposed to full sun, so bring sunscreen and a hat. Water and food are not included, so carry a bottle of water with you.

Getting around the site

Chichén Itzá is a large open-air archaeological site and the tour covers it on foot. Keep pace with your guide and stay within the designated visitor areas around the monuments. Direct contact with the structures is not permitted at most areas of the site.

During your visit

Photography for personal use is generally welcomed at open-air archaeological sites such as this, though your guide will advise if any specific areas have restrictions. Vendors operate around the site perimeter. Keep your entrance ticket accessible, as it may be checked at the gate.
