Open-Air Museum Ballenberg is an outdoor museum near Brienz in the Bernese Oberland, set across roughly 66 hectares of Swiss countryside. The site brings together more than 100 authentic rural buildings relocated from across Switzerland, spanning farmhouses, granaries, workshops, and village structures dating from the 15th century onward. For visitors planning a day out from Zurich, Ballenberg offers a full day of exploration through reconstructed settlements that represent every major region of the country, from the Alps to the Mittelland and the Jura.

Visitors move freely between the buildings and watch live craft demonstrations including bread baking, cheese making, brick making, and blacksmithing, all carried out using traditional methods. The site also runs activities designed for both children and adults, making it a practical choice for mixed groups. A digital map of the park is included to help navigate the grounds. Skip-the-line tickets cover admission to all houses, exhibitions, and craft demonstrations, with wheelchair-accessible paths available throughout the site. Horse-drawn carriage rides are available separately from mid-May to early October and are not included in the ticket price.
