À propos du lieu

À propos de ce lieu

The 9/11 Memorial & Museum stands on the footprint of the original World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan, on the ground where the Twin Towers once rose above the New York skyline. The memorial pools, each nearly an acre in size, occupy the exact outlines of the fallen towers, their names inscribed along the bronze parapets. Designed by architect Michael Arad with landscape architect Peter Walker, the site opened its memorial in 2011 on the tenth anniversary of the attacks, with the museum following in 2014.

The museum descends seven storeys below street level into the bedrock of the site, preserving original structural remnants alongside artefacts, personal testimonies, and documentary records from 11 September 2001 and the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. Visitors can explore the site through the 9/11 Memorial and Museum Family Pass, which offers access to both the memorial grounds and the museum galleries, or join the Ground Zero 9/11 Memorial Tour for a guided experience of this profoundly significant place in American and world history.
