PortAventura Park is a large theme park located at PortAventura World in Salou, roughly an hour south of Barcelona, and one of the most visited parks in Europe. Opened in 1995, it spans six themed areas across a substantial site on the Costa Daurada, drawing millions of visitors each year with a mix of thrill rides, live entertainment, and cultural theming.

The six areas are Mediterrània, Far West, México, China, Polynesia, and a dedicated Sesame Street zone for younger visitors. Each area is built around a distinct visual identity, with architecture, food, and attractions designed to reflect its theme. Highlights include the Dragon Khan and Shambhala roller coasters, the latter reaching 76 metres and holding a European record for height at the time of its opening in 2012.

What to expect

Entry covers access to all six themed zones and the full roster of included live shows running throughout the day. Visitors can move freely between areas, taking in everything from the water rides of Polynesia to the 4D experiences and animal encounters available across the park. The Sesame Street area is designed specifically for families with young children, with gentler rides and character appearances. Tickets do not include fast-track access, parking, food, or lockers, all of which can be arranged separately on arrival. PortAventura World and getting there

PortAventura World is a resort complex that includes the main theme park, Ferrari Land, and several on-site hotels. The park entrance is at Avinguda del Batlle Pere Molas, km 2, in Salou, and is reachable by direct train from Barcelona Sants station in approximately one hour, with a dedicated PortAventura station on the line. Parking is available on site for an additional fee. Visitors without a car will find the train the most straightforward option from the city.
