Tentang tempat ini

The Ethel Barrymore Theatre on West 47th Street is one of Broadway's most storied houses, named in honour of the celebrated actress Ethel Barrymore, who opened the theatre in 1928 with a production of "The Kingdom of God". Designed by Herbert J. Krapp, the building is a landmark of Midtown Manhattan, its interior distinguished by a classical proscenium and an intimate scale that has made it a favoured home for serious dramatic work across nearly a century.

The theatre has hosted landmark productions throughout its history, from early Tennessee Williams premieres to celebrated revivals that have shaped the American stage. Currently running at the Barrymore is August Wilson's "Joe Turner's Come and Gone", a powerful drama set in a Pittsburgh boarding house in 1911 that forms part of Wilson's celebrated ten-play Pittsburgh Cycle. The production continues the theatre's long tradition of presenting work that carries genuine literary and cultural weight.
