Pena Palace and Quinta da Regaleira is a combined entry ticket covering two of Sintra's most visited heritage sites, located in the hills above Lisbon. Pena Palace, originally a 16th-century monastery, was transformed into a royal summer residence by King Ferdinand II in the 1840s, resulting in a layered Romanticist structure that blends Moorish, Manueline, and Gothic elements across its towers, terraces, and coloured facades. The surrounding park spans over 200 hectares and contains exotic trees, ferns, and winding paths that lead to viewpoints and hidden corners throughout the grounds.
Quinta da Regaleira is a late 19th-century estate also within the Lisbon region's UNESCO-listed cultural landscape of Sintra. Entry includes a digital audio guide, allowing visitors to explore at their own pace. Highlights include the Fountain of Abundance, an aquarium, a greenhouse, and the estate's network of underground tunnels and wells, most notably the Initiation Well, a spiral staircase descending into the earth that reflects the esoteric interests of its original owner, António Carvalho Monteiro. Tickets cover self-guided entry to both sites. Note that wheelchair access is not available at either location, and bookings are non-refundable.
