Kraków is one of Poland's most historically significant cities, having served as the royal capital for centuries and survived the Second World War largely intact. Its medieval old town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1978, spreads out from the vast Rynek Główny market square and encompasses Gothic churches, Renaissance courtyards, and the fortified Wawel Hill, where Polish kings were crowned and buried in the cathedral that still stands above the Vistula river.

The city also carries the profound weight of its wartime history. The Podgórze district is home to Oskar Schindler's enamelware factory, now a museum run by the Historical Museum of the City of Kraków, which documents the German occupation through immersive permanent exhibitions. Beyond the city limits, the Wieliczka Salt Mine stretches for hundreds of kilometres of tunnels carved over seven centuries, featuring underground chapels, sculptures, and lakes entirely hewn from salt. Current experiences available include guided and skip-the-line access to Schindler's Factory, a guided tour of the Wieliczka Salt Mine, and an audio-guided tour of the Wawel Hill surroundings.
