Montserrat Tourist Office

The Montserrat Tourist Office organises guided access to one of Catalonia's most significant religious and cultural sites, the Benedictine monastery of Santa Maria de Montserrat, set high in the serrated mountain range that rises dramatically some fifty kilometres north of Barcelona. The office coordinates visits that include access to the revered Black Madonna, the twelfth-century Romanesque statue of the Virgin that has drawn pilgrims and visitors to this mountain for centuries, alongside an audio guide that provides context for the monastery's architecture, its art collections, and its place in Catalan identity.

The current programme centres on the Montserrat Monastery and Black Madonna Access and Audio Guide experience, which allows visitors to move through the basilica and its surroundings at their own pace while receiving detailed commentary. The monastery also houses the Escolania, one of the oldest boys' choirs in Europe, whose performances remain a draw for those visiting the site. The combination of mountain scenery, religious heritage, and Catalan cultural history makes Montserrat a destination unlike any other in the region.
