Flanders Fields: Day Trip from Brussels is a 13-hour guided coach tour from the Belgian capital to the First World War battlefields and memorials of the Ypres Salient in West Flanders. The tour departs from 14 Boulevard de Berlaimont and covers some of the most significant sites of the Western Front, including Essex Farm Cemetery, where Canadian military physician John McCrae is believed to have written his 1915 poem 'In Flanders Fields' following the death of his friend Alexis Helmer.
A live guide accompanies the group throughout, providing context across the cemeteries, memorials, and landscapes that defined the conflict along this front. The itinerary includes a visit to the Flanders Fields Museum in Ypres, which traces the history of the Salient through personal accounts, artefacts, and reconstructed environments. Entrance to the museum is included in the booking, along with roundtrip coach travel from Brussels. Please note the tour is not suitable for wheelchair users. Tickets are available across a range of dates, with free cancellation up to a specified date before departure.
