Sagano Romantic Train: One-Way Ticket

The Sagano Romantic Train is a scenic railway in Kyoto that runs a 7.3 km one-way route along the Hozugawa River gorge, connecting Saga Torokko Station, adjacent to JR Saga-Arashiyama Station, to Kameoka Torokko Station. The train operates on the former San'in Main Line, retired after upgrades to the JR network, and its Art Deco-style carriages in red, yellow, and black are a recognisable feature of the Kyoto Arashiyama area. The journey takes approximately 25 minutes.

Passengers travel through the Hozugawa River gorge, passing forested hillsides and river scenery that changes with the seasons. A free multilingual audio guide app is available for download on smartphones; it syncs automatically with the train's location and identifies landmarks and points of interest along the route. Earphones are not included and should be brought separately. The one-way ticket covers a single journey from Saga Torokko Station to Kameoka Torokko Station, with wheelchair access available. Cancellation is accepted before the travel date.
