About Central Park New York: Walking Tour

Central Park New York: Walking Tour is a two-hour guided walk through one of the most visited urban parks in the world, covering the park's major landmarks and the history behind them. Designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux and opened in 1858, Central Park spans 843 acres across the middle of Manhattan, and this tour moves through its most significant sections on foot.

The route takes in Bethesda Fountain and Terrace, Strawberry Fields, the Central Park Mall, Conservatory Water, the Great Lawn, and the Jackie Kennedy Onassis Reservoir, among other named sites. A map of Central Park is included with every booking.

What to expect

Tours depart daily at 12 pm from 203 West 58th Street, on the southern edge of the park. A guide leads the group through two hours of walking, explaining the design philosophy behind the park's layout, the stories attached to its landmarks, and the social history that shaped its use over more than 160 years. Bethesda Terrace, the architectural centrepiece of the park, and Strawberry Fields, the memorial to John Lennon, are among the named stops. The tour is wheelchair accessible and runs in all weather conditions.

Central Park and getting there
