The Museum of Brands in Notting Hill traces the history of British consumer culture through an extraordinary archive of original packaging, advertising, and everyday objects spanning more than 200 years. Founded by consumer historian Robert Opie, whose personal collection forms the backbone of the displays, the museum takes visitors on a chronological journey from the Victorian era to the present day. Each decade is recreated through the tins, bottles, posters, and toys that defined it, offering an unusually intimate view of how daily life and commercial design have changed across generations.

The collection holds over 12,000 original items, making it one of the most comprehensive records of branded goods and popular culture in the world. The museum sits within a converted Victorian building in Colville Mews, a short walk from Portobello Road. Entry tickets are available for self-guided exploration of the permanent collection, which continues to grow as contemporary packaging and products are added alongside the historical archive.
