  • We could complete the trip as per schedule. The driver was a good and calm. The bus was on a small size and old. The air-conditioning wasn't working well. There was no leg room even for an average height person.

  • I Had an amazing day! First half unfortunately rained but our tour guide Gisepe was so informative and interesting to listen to that it didn't matter. Second half we had lunch a little time to wander through Tivoli. Then into the Palace Wow !! All I can say fabulous paintings on the walls from an era only portrayed in movies and the waterfall that played music transported me back and allowed me to dream of the palace gardens and the privileged at a garden ball . Gardens are so Bellisssamo!! I'd do it all again!! Thank you for a truly lovely day and a memory forever . Do this trip !!

  • We were the only ones on the bus who had not op[ted for the guided tour. So I can't speak to how good the tour was, but the guide definiteky kept an eye for us and made sure we knew where to be.

  • The Guide Marsha was absolutely fantastic and so full of knowledge. You could ask her any question and she had an answer for you.I would highly recommend this company when planning your trip in Rome ,You will not be disappointed. Thanks so much again Marsha.Kind Regards Dolores Kelly

  • I really can't review this because we wound up not taking the tour, but we should have. Instead we took the train from Roma Tiburtina to Tivoli. I had expected that we would be able to take taxis in Tivoli--after all, it's a major tourist attraction--but that turns out to be impossible to do. We wound up visiting the Villa d'Este, a long walk from the train station, and we enjoyed our visit. We never got to the Villa Adriana (although there is a city bus that goes there,we didn't take it). So, as I wrote, it would have been much better to have taken this tour. We reserved several days in advance, and, as opposed to some other tours we had booked, this one was non-cancellable, so we were simply out the money we had paid for it (and it was not cheap).

  • Absolutely great experience! Wonderful places and great tour guide

  • It was a well organized experience. And even though we only signed up for the transfer part (no tour), Alicia the guide, was very attentive to our needs.

  • We loved the experience of visiting Villa Hadrian and Villa D'Este and all the history behind these two places. The tour was a bit confusing for us, as for some reason we ended up buying tickets without the guided tour (we though we had bought tickets only without lunch). But even discovering the place on our own was very exciting.

Villa d'Este and Hadrian's Villa Day Trip from Rome

Escape Rome's crowds and explore two of Italy's most remarkable UNESCO World Heritage Sites in a single day. This Tivoli day trip combines the Renaissance splendour of Villa d'Este with the ancient grandeur of Hadrian's Villa, complete with comfortable transfers and skip-the-line tickets.

Your air-conditioned coach picks you up from central Rome and whisks you through the scenic Lazio countryside to Tivoli. With all transport and admissions sorted, you can focus entirely on exploring these extraordinary sites at your own pace. The journey takes about an hour each way, giving you plenty of time to discover both villas without rushing.

Exploring Villa d'Este

Villa d'Este stands as one of Europe's finest Renaissance gardens. The 16th-century masterpiece features over 500 fountains powered entirely by gravity. You'll wander through terraced gardens adorned with the famous Hundred Fountains, the dramatic Fountain of Neptune, and the elegant Oval Fountain.

The villa's water features create a symphony of sounds as you explore shaded pathways and admire intricate sculptures. Don't miss the recently reopened Grotto of Diana, though entry is limited. The panoramic views across the surrounding hills provide perfect photo opportunities.

Discovering Hadrian's Villa

Hadrian's Villa offers a fascinating glimpse into imperial Roman luxury. Emperor Hadrian built this sprawling 2nd-century retreat as his private escape from Rome. The archaeological complex spans 120 hectares and includes remains of grand halls, private baths, libraries, and theatres.

The highlight is the Canopus pool, a stunning reflection pool surrounded by columns and statues that recreated an Egyptian canal. Ancient mosaics still decorate many floors, whilst the Maritime Theatre showcases innovative Roman engineering. The site demonstrates the scale and sophistication of imperial Roman architecture.

Good to Know

The tour departs from central Rome with pickup approximately 15 minutes before departure time. Bring comfortable walking shoes as both sites involve considerable walking on uneven surfaces. A valid photo ID and refillable water bottle are recommended.
