Om denna plats

The Musée du quai Branly - Jacques Chirac stands on the left bank of the Seine in Paris, in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower, and is dedicated to the arts and civilisations of Africa, Asia, Oceania, and the Americas. Designed by architect Jean Nouvel and opened in 2006, the building is as distinctive as its collections: a raised main structure clad in coloured glass boxes, set within a landscaped garden conceived by Gilles Clément. The living plant wall on the rue de l'Université façade, created by botanist Patrick Blanc, has become one of the most recognisable features of contemporary Paris architecture.

Inside, the permanent collection holds more than 300,000 objects spanning sculpture, textiles, musical instruments, and ritual artefacts gathered from indigenous cultures across four continents. The museum was renamed in honour of former French president Jacques Chirac, whose personal commitment drove its creation. Visitors can explore the permanent galleries with a standard entry ticket or opt for an annual pass that allows repeated access throughout the year.
