Intrepid Museum

The Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum occupies the flight deck and hangers of USS Intrepid, a Second World War Essex-class aircraft carrier permanently moored on the Hudson River at Pier 86 in Midtown Manhattan. The carrier was commissioned in 1943, served in the Pacific theatre, and later supported NASA recovery missions before opening as a museum in 1982. Its collection spans naval history, aviation, and space exploration, with aircraft ranging from a Lockheed A-12 Blackbird to the Space Shuttle Enterprise, which is housed in a purpose-built pavilion on deck.

Visitors can explore the hangar deck, the bridge, and the flight deck itself, gaining a direct sense of the ship's scale and operational history. Current tickets give access to the full museum experience aboard the carrier, while the Intrepid Museum and Edge at Hudson Yards bundle pairs the ship with the outdoor observation deck on the 100th floor of 30 Hudson Yards, offering two of the most distinctive perspectives on New York from a single combined ticket.
