This outing combines self-drive off-road driving with guided cultural and natural activities, making it one of the more varied things to do in Dubai and the wider emirate region.

Guests begin with a camel ride across the dunes before taking the wheel of a two or four-seater dune buggy for a full hour of self-drive riding over the sand. Sandboarding is included, as is a guided fossil discovery stop at Fossil Rock where guides explain the geological history of the site. Snacks and refreshments are provided throughout, and the experience closes with a three-course dinner in the desert. Pick-up and drop-off from Dubai hotels is included in the booking. The full experience runs for approximately five hours, so wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes suitable for sand. Your group will be collected from your Dubai hotel, so be ready at the agreed pick-up point a few minutes before your scheduled departure. The meeting point for those making their own way is in the Al Ruwaida area of Sharjah.
Getting around the desert
The programme moves between several activities across open desert terrain, including a camel ride, sandboarding, a fossil discovery stop at Fossil Rock, and a self-drive dune buggy session lasting one hour. Buggies seat two or four people. Staff are on hand throughout to guide and assist, so follow their instructions at all times, particularly around the vehicles and dunes.
