Statue of Liberty

The Statue of Liberty stands on Liberty Island in New York Harbour, a copper-clad figure designed by French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and engineered with an internal iron framework by Gustave Eiffel. A gift from France to the United States, she was dedicated in 1886 and has since become one of the most recognised landmarks on earth, greeting generations of arrivals to New York by sea.
