Informazioni su questo luogo

The Statue of Liberty stands on Liberty Island in New York Harbour, a copper-clad figure designed by French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and engineered with an internal iron framework by Gustave Eiffel. A gift from France to the United States, she was dedicated in 1886 and has since become one of the most recognised landmarks on earth, greeting generations of arrivals to New York by sea. The torch she raises and the broken chains at her feet carry a symbolism that has made her a focal point for discussions of freedom and democracy across more than a century.

Visitors today can explore Liberty Island and its museum, cross to the neighbouring Ellis Island Immigration Museum, or take to the water on a sunset cruise that frames the statue against the Manhattan skyline. Pedestal and crown access offer elevated views across the harbour, while express ferry options allow those with limited time to make the most of a visit to one of New York's most enduring monuments.
