On the downside I found the musical numbers an irritating interruption to the flow of the drama rather than enhancing it; when singing the actors were over-miked; not all the notes were there, and many were approached from underneath (I appreciate this is the modern way of singing musicals); and the music itself left no great impression, being of the sub-Sondheim variety. Mine may be a minority view as the audience was very appreciative at the end, but my own feeling was that it would have been a more enjoyable evening as a straight play rather than a musical. First time at this theatre, liked it a lot, an excellent small venue, staff very welcoming and helpful (especially at the ticket desk).”
