The Akumal Monkey Sanctuary and Rescued Animals guided tour is a two-hour-fifteen-minute wildlife experience near Tulum, centred on animals that have lost their natural habitats due to deforestation, pollution, and environmental damage. Most residents of the sanctuary are unable to return to the wild and have been rehabilitated on site, making this one of the more purposeful things to do in Tulum for visitors with an interest in conservation. The tour departs from Camino a Uxuxubi S/N and is fully wheelchair accessible.

Guests join the sanctuary's trainers and staff to walk through the grounds, learning about each animal's background and the rehabilitation process.
